Computational Science and Engineering

Research header

We are exploring open problems in science and engineering that often involve topics such as nonlinear dynamicsnonequilibrium physicspattern formation, fluid dynamics, statistical physics, nanoscale technology, and computational biology.  An overarching goal is to improve our physical understanding of these difficult problems by employing analytical and numerical methods, from simple models to large-scale parallel numerical simulations. Current interests include spatiotemporal chaos, the intricate dynamics of reacting, advecting, and diffusing systems, the rapid progress of experimental science at the nanoscale, and the complex behavior of biological systems.
